I recently found this site when looking for some cheap return flights to Ibiza.
HOME PAGE
The home page is set out really clear.
In the centre of the screen you have a map of Europe showing all the departure airports you can book from.
Below that is some example flight costs from the UK.
To the right of screen is all the lastest special offers and on your left is your search section(locate your flight).
SEARCHING FOR FLIGHTS
Using the tab select where you are wanting to travel from. (at present the only airport in the UK is at Coventry)
low fare thompson
Then select where you are wanting to travel to.( at present there are only 12 destinations)
chepa flight
You then select when you want to fly and when you want to return.
Select how many travelers and then click on find flights.
This takes only a few seconds as this website is very fast.
SELECTING YOUR FLIGHT
screen appears displaying all flights on your selected dates. These are broken into two sections.
First You select your outgoing flight. Then you Return flight.
COST
All flights shown are really cheap prices starting from £3.99. Prices do however exclude taxes, fees and charges.
You may think that this will boost your price a lot but it doesn't.
I have booked two return flights to Ibiza in June and after all extra costs were put on the final total for both tickets was £101.....THAT'S £51.50 EACH.
Payment can be made usiong a credit/ debit card.
YOUR FLIGHT SELECTION.
booked flights to Valencia airport for July 25 returning August 10 and for the four of us I had to pay only £185 including taxes. I was most impressed with the price, but had heard that Coventry airport is so rural that there was a cattlegrid on the runway (joke!). When we arrived on the day, the luggage check in was done by real people, no conveyor belts taking your luggage away , although as it establishes itself I've no doubt it will become more automated. Having checked in we left the building to have a coffee in a tiny coffee shop adjacent to the terminal building before we went and settled down for 'the wait'.
Thomsonfly switches ski flight
Thomsonfly has withdrawn plans to fly to Grenoble a few days after the destination went on sale.
It will instead fly to Lyon, which is further from the ski resorts. A spokesman for the TUI-owned airline told TravelMole it has ditched the smaller airport of Grenoble in favour of Lyon because the latter has better passenger facilities and better ground transportation to take passengers on to Alpine ski resorts.
The flights from Coventry to Lyon start on December 16. Flights are on sale from £23 one way including taxes and charges.
Passengers already booked to fly to Grenoble will be offered a refund or a flight to Lyon. According to a spokesman associated bookings like car hire have also been transferred or refunde
The waiting room is quite small, has a mini shop with a small selection of goods including newspapers, mags, chocolate, perfume, binoculars, pens etc. There is also a facility where you can buy a sandwich or drink.
When the announcement for the plane was called the whole waiting room stood up! Yes only one flight at a time leaves the airport, the next flight out was about 4 hours later.
Coventry airport was like travelling back in time, but it was efficient, clean and the staff were polite and friendly. I do feel sorry for the locals as the airport has caused them some extra traffic and noise disruption, but not sorry enough to stop using it!
Flights tend to go to smaller airports than the major airlines, but often this is a much cheaper way of travelling, and let's face it, every £1 saved is another £1 available to spend on something else.
One downside of the airport is the car parking. As yet there is only limited parking available on site and it was going to cost us about £95 for 16 nights. There are no NCP or off airport parking sites as yet, but they will probably arrive eventually. Outside the airport if you take a taxi or have a lift, there is a drop off/collection point outside the terminal building for convenience.
After you have selected your flights you are given an Itinerary. This confirms the flights dates, time and price.
You are then asked for all your details and payment details and then sent a confirmation email or fax to confirm your booking.
You then collect your tickets from the airport.
OTHER
The site also has a section so that you can book hotels and car hire although I did find this part of the site expensive...I think this must how they make up their money. I'd recommend you arrange your accomidation with another company.
